This webinar, "Effective Advocacy for Long-Term Care Providers in Wisconsin," is part one of a two-part webinar series designed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively influence public policy and advocate for the long-term care sector. Designed for members of LeadingAge Wisconsin, this session covers the fundamentals of grassroots and direct lobbying, highlights actionable advocacy opportunities, and explains key legislative and budgetary processes in Wisconsin. Participants will gain insights into leveraging tools such as facility tours, social media, and legislative meetings to amplify their voice. Additionally, the session underscores the importance of political action committees and collaborative lobbying efforts to advance industry goals. By the end of this webinar, attendees will feel empowered to engage with policymakers and champion policies that support the needs of their residents, staff, and communities. 

Learner Objectives: 

  • Understand the role of advocacy in influencing policy decisions and the various forms it takes, including grassroots and direct lobbying.
  • Identify and utilize effective advocacy tools, including letters, facility tours, social media, and virtual meetings, to engage with policymakers.
  • Recognize various opportunities such as district listening sessions and public hearings to share their perspectives with policymakers.
  • Understand the role of political action committees (PACs) and how they support elected officials aligned with long-term care industry priorities
  • Know the Wisconsin legislative process and state budget timeline, including critical points for advocacy engagement and influencing decision-making.
