Kim Gochanour and Jackie Carley, Co-Chairs for the LeadingAge Wisconsin Workforce Task Force, invite you to the next meeting of the Workforce Network. This virtual meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
Our featured member for this meeting will be Kari Hawkinson, Vice President Human Resources, Miravida Living in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Kari will join Robin Wolzenburg, Vice President of Housing & Clinical Services, LeadingAge Wisconsin, to discuss practicalities, best practices, and successes in hiring refugees in long-term care.
Robin has been working in collaboration with multiple stakeholders involved in refugee resettlement to help address the workforce challenges faced by long-term care providers. This comprehensive approach offers employment, housing, and various other forms of assistance to refugees. Miravida Living has established a successful model for employing and supporting refugees within their community. Kari will share Miravida’s firsthand experience, including insights into their decision to explore this employment pathway, the obstacles they encountered, their achievements to date, and future plans for expanding this workforce initiative. Robin will share additional successful models implemented by various long-term care organizations across the state. Discussion will include information on how to establish a refugee workforce program between your local resettlement organization and your long-term care community.
Please join this meeting prepared to engage in the interactive discussion. We want to hear what you are doing to address the workforce crisis in your organization as we continue working together to be part of the solution.
Meetings of our Workforce Network are open to all members and subscribers of LeadingAge Wisconsin.
